Scultura

Merida Scultura bikes designed in Germany using the most advanced materials.

SCULTURA – The name says it all
It’s no matter of chance that MERIDA’s top road machine is called SCULTURA (Italian for “sculpture”): The carbon frame’s flowing shapes have a striking resemblance to the timeless design of antique sculptures. Especially the new 2013 edition SL (“Superlight”) deserves its name even in a double sense: As a first approach, a professional stonemason chiselled the bike’s shape traditionally and “reversely” out of a massive block. Then designers and engineers optimized even the smallest details in ultra-close cooperation and finally perfected the SL shape in full accordance to the designated technological features.

Confirmed UCI conformity
Since 2012, the UCI (“Union Cycliste International”) demands that all bike frames used for competition purposes have to pass a technical acceptance test called “homologation”. As a matter of course, all MERIDA SCULTURA models come with this official certificate.
At Merida we have a long and proud tradition of innovation;  creating ground breaking and world leading bikes, of developing new production techniques to constantly improve product performance at every level.
Our philosophy has always been to work with the best partners:-  two minds are better than one.  We have partnered with German universities to test products in extreme conditions, worked with suppliers with expertise in the automototive and sporting goods industries, all in the name of pushing our understanding further and innovating more.
The launch of the Lampre-Merida pro-tour team has pushed our R&D team even harder.  To compete at the very top level on the road, they have used all the years of learning to develop a range of bikes packed with innovation.
One example is mixing carbon with flax fibres in key areas of the bike to give class leading comfort statistics, so important for long hours in the saddle.
